Bandh near total in BJP strongholds across Karnataka
The commuters travelling in Hubballi-Dharwad twin cities were put to severe hardship as bus services were suspended.
Hubballi: Dharwad city witnessed a total bandh on Monday in response to the call given by the BJP for a Karnataka Bandh on the issue of crop loan waiver but life remained unaffected in Hubballi.
The BJP workers forced business establishments, banks and government offices to stop operations in Dharwad. Some miscreants pelted stones at three buses damaging the windshields when the KSRTC authorities refused to suspend their services. The commuters travelling in Hubballi-Dharwad twin cities were put to severe hardship as bus services were suspended.
On getting information that the Pepsi factory located on PB?Road in? Dharwad was functioning, the protesters barged into the factory and forced the authorities to close down the factory.
Later, the protesters thronged the Agriculture department premises and asked them to down shutters. Agriculture department Joint Director Rudresh tried to pacify the agitators but they were in mood to listen to him.
Some mischief mongers even entered the Mango Mela organised by the horticulture department asking them to halt their business and extend support to the bandh.
They warned that the fruits would be taken away if they did not co-operate. Normal life was not affected much in Hubballi as all schools, colleges, banks, petrol bunks and public transport services functioned normally. The NWKRTC buses plied as usual and only city bus services were affected till noon.
