Calls journalists dogs', ruling AIADMK party member sacked
Expelling Prabhakaran from the party, the statement, which was also signed by CM Palaniswami, urged cadres not to have any ties with Prabhakaran.
Chennai: The controversy over the sexist tweet by BJP leader S Ve Shekher on journalists - “you sleep around for work” - has hardly died out, when another row has broken out, this time over a tweet by a ruling AIADMK functionary. The worthy named journalists as '”dogs” on his Twitter handle on Monday and was promptly expelled by his party.
The AIADMK headquarters immediately issued a statement expelling the party's Kancheepuram IT wing office bearer Hari Prabhakaran, but damage was done has the tweet went viral on social media.
In a statement on Monday, party convenor O. Panneerselvam said that the act of Hari Prabhakaran, joint secretary, district information technology cell has defamed the party. Expelling Prabhakaran from the party, the statement, which was also signed by CM Edappadi Palaniswami, urged cadres not to have any ties with Prabhakaran.
Hari had tweeted, “Reporters are not allowed to shoot inside the hospital during the deputy chief minister visit - street dogs who shouts for biscuits will be tied on the gate rather allowing them inside”. Hari deleted the tweet and apologised stating the controversial tweet had nothing to do with the party.
The tweet was made in reference to media personnel who were covering the O Panneerselvam visit to Thoothukudi government hospital to console Sterlite police firing victims.
