Jagan Mohan Reddy may bring back YSR loyalist Ramana to AP govt
A family friend of the Reddys, Mr Ramana Reddy held the same post when TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu came to power in 2014.
Hyderabad: The AP government, in its search of efficient officers who worked with then Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, is likely to avail the services of Mr N.V. Ramana Reddy, currently chief personnel officer in the South Central Railway (SCR) at Hyderabad.
Mr Rajasekhar Reddy, after he was elected in 2004, had brought Mr Ramana Reddy to the state government service on deputation and appointed him special secretary (protocol) in the general administration department.
A family friend of the Reddys, Mr Ramana Reddy held the same post when TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu came to power in 2014. He held additional charge as commissioner of information and public relations.
During Mr Naidu’s tenure, the YSRC, then in the Opposition, staged a dharna at Delhi demanding special status for AP. The YSRC MLAs asked the state government for accommodation at AP Bhavan at Delhi but were turned down. As special secretary, protocol, Ramana Reddy provided them accommodation at AP Bhavan.
He told the government that as per rules, AP Bhavan has to provide accommodation for any legislator from the state. Following this, the Naidu government sent him back to the Railways. He has been with the South Central Railway for the last two years.
An AP government official said Mr Ramana Reddy AP CM-designate Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy three days ago at his residence at Tadepalli.
