Cops' negligence killed my daughter, cries mom
Vinupriya ended her life following the posting of her morphed obscene picture on the Facebook.
Salem: “I lost my daughter only because of the negligence of the Salem police,” wailed Manjula over the body of her old daughter Vinupriya. On Monday morning, Vinupriya had become yet another victim on a Facebook abuse by cyber criminals. She ended her life following the posting of her morphed obscene picture on the Facebook. “The cops at Magudanchavadi police station accused my daughter of having given her picture to a boy, which has led to the obscene posting. We believed the cops and scolded our daughter,” she sobbed inconsolably.
When Vinupirya and her parents went to the Magudanchavadi police station to lodge a complaint about the obscene Facebook posting, the cops accused Vinupriya of having given her picture to some person.
“We should not have believed the cops and rebuked our daughter,” she cried, beating her chest. Besides, she said that the police claimed it would take 15 days to get Facebook postings. “ But an hour after Vinupriya’s death, we got the Facebook page blocked through our relative. They made us run from the SP’s office to DSP’s office, Magundanchavadi police station and cyber crime police for six days. Finally, my daughter ended her life. This tragedy should not strike any other family,” she lamented.
