Hyderabad: Kukunoorpally police has booked a case against Gajwel ACP Giridhar in connection with the suicide of sub inspector Prabhakar Reddy.  Police registered an FIR based on a complaint filed by the SI's brother Bhaskar Reddy, who is also an SI in Telangana police.

Meanwhile, Prabhakar Reddy's wife Rachana demanded that the CBI should take over the investigation as state police officials have been 'twisting facts and making up new stories'.

Petitioner Bhaskar Reddy alleged that his brother committed suicide due to harassment by his ACP. The police booked a case against Giridhar under IPC Section 306 (Abetment of suicide).

Earlier, following the death of the SI, Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma transferred Gajwel ACP Giridhar and attached him to headquarters. A senior police team has started an internal investigation.

Although relatives of SI Prabhakar Reddy alleged that he committed suicide due to harassment by higher officials, police officials said that Reddy had made sexual advances towards Arusumilli Vijayalakshmi alias Sirisha a day before her death. Reddy ended his life reportedly after TV channels started playing up the death of Sirisha describing it as a highly suspicious one.

The SI was found lying dead on a chair in his house at the police quarters by his colleagues on June 14. The SI had shot himself using his service weapon.
