Retired APSRTC employees to get higher pensions
VIJAYAWADA: APSRTC managing director Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao on Wednesday said retired employees of the corporation will start getting higher pension following a decision taken by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
Addressing a gathering at the RTC headquarters, he disclosed that the pension of every retired employee will go up from three to five times.
On the occasion, Tirumala Rao handed over a Higher Pension Certificate of ₹25,000 to junior assistant (Finance) G. Satyanarayana.
He said that as per the new pension scheme, the pension of RTC employees will increase from ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 and ₹25,000. The enhanced pension comes in the wake of Supreme Court of India ordering higher pension as per eligibility of the employees. The court felt the earlier pension of ₹5,000 was too meagre for sustenance of the retired RTC staff.
APSRTC executive director (Admin) K.S. Brahmananda Reddy, AO Raghava Reddy and APSRTC PF Trust secretary Aruna were among those present at the function.
