Film producer Madan is alive, police officer informs High Court
Additional Deputy Commissioner hopeful of tracing and securing him in due course.
CHENNAI: The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, who is entrusted with the task of tracing film producer Madan, who went missing since May 27, on Thursday informed the Madras high court he is very much confident that Madan is alive and he is hopeful of locating and securing him in due course. S. Radhakrishnan, ADCP, CCB, stated this when an HCP filed by R.S.Thangam, mother of Madan, came up for hearing before a Division Bench comprising Justices S. Nagamuthu and V. Bharathidasan.
Posting the case after two weeks for reporting further compliance, the court in its order said, “Radhakrishnan, ADCP, appeared and filed a status report. When a specific question was asked regarding Madan, whether he is alive because of the letter left behind by him saying he is going to commit suicide, the investigating officer submitted that prima facie the material collected by him till date in the investigation, he is very much confident that the detenue Madan is very much alive. He is hopeful of locating and securing him in due course. In the other cases (against Madan), we are satisfied that investigation is being carried out prima facie in the right direction”.
In her petition, Thangam submitted that her son Madan was missing since May 27. He had left for Delhi in connection with his work on May 27 and he spoke to her on May 28. On May 29, instead of returning to Chennai, she received a WhatsApp message of a letter stating the business transaction with SRM Vendar and his broken state of mind to end his life in Kasi. On May 30, her relatives preferred a complaint with Virugambakkam police.
On May 31, she lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of police. The letter written by her son elucidates there were some money transactions with SRM. The letter raises apprehension of Madan being kidnapped. The investigation lacunae in tracing her son’s whereabouts by police were dubious of the illegal influences to deliberately suppress his presence for reasons unknown, she said.
