Chennai: Lenin Karuppan, devotee turned whistle-blower in the infamous Nithyananda case and the man who gave the media the scandalous video tapes, was arrested by the Bengaluru police on Friday from the Saidapet court premises. “He was whisked away by a plain-clothed team claiming to be from Be-ngaluru police citing a warrant from a court in Bengaluru. We were told that a warrant was issued in connection with no-appearance in a case of defamation filed by god-man’s disciple,” said a close family friend of Lenin.
Lenin was in Saidapet court for the hearing of a discharge petition he had filed in connection with a case registered by CBCID based on a complaint from Aathmaprabhananda, manager of Godman Nithyananda's Nithyananda Dhamapeedam ashram and actor Ranjitha, who figured in the scandalous tape alleging that Lenin along with others had tried to extort money thr-eatening to leak the video tape.

Lenin had surrendered in connection with the case in March 2012. “He had attended the court 18 times with the prosecution side seeking adjournment after adjournment. As soon as he came out of the courtro-om on Friday, the waiting Bengaluru police team whisked him away,” his family friend added. Those who were present in the Saidapet court premise noted a vehicle, carrying a group of men, suspected to be supporters of godman, was following the police vehicle, in which Lenin was taken to Bengaluru.  Lenin is to be produced before the 24th ACMM court in Bengaluru. It may be noted that Nithyananda's devotees we-re in the news recently when they tried to take over a hillock in Tiruvannamalai and also when they tried to harass a woman in Jamin Pallavaram in Chennai.
