GHMC to collect leftover food
The supply from the food bank will be based on availability every day.
Hyderabad: The GHMC, Rajendranagar circle, has tied up with food industries located in the southern corridor of Hyderabad to collect leftover fresh stock for the ‘Swachh food banks’ of GHMC staff.
The corporation on Friday opened a food bank stall at Rajendranagar dumping yard where the staff were served bread, biscuits and other items free of cost.
South Zone Municipal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy said, “There are several food factories in Kathedan and Rajendranagar circles. These factories dump their leftover stock of food every day. The city municipality has decided to tie up with them so that the leftover is supplied to the staff Swachh Food Banks.”The corporation has also tied up with the Rajiv Gandhi Intern-ational Airport authorities of Sham-shabad to pick up stock left behind by airlines.
The food banks would provide cakes, biscuits, snacks, fruits and other things. The supply from the food bank will be based on availability every day.
