Modi politics affects children: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac
Isaac said the Centre had adopted a stand that completely neglected these schemes.
Thiruvananthapuram: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac says the state’s children are becoming victims of political vendetta of the prime minister. Modi has turned into a Kamsa who seems to be facing political threat from even children. The massive reduction in the central allocation for Samrudhi Shiksha Abhiyan is a pointer.
"Let us remind the Prime Minister with regret that vendetta should not be against the children. You should not be so harsh on the children," he said.
The finance minister said this was being done at a time when the achievements and advances made in the field of general education is a model before the country. While thousands of crores of rupees had been allocated to the BJP-ruled states, Kerala has been given a meagre Rs 206 crore.
He said the BJP government had shown extreme cruelty to the children. The Centre’s stand will adversely affect our schools and students. From '413 crore set aside in the indicative budget last April, the amount has now been reduced to just Rd 206 crore. The amount has been slashed in the midst of criticism that the amount set aside in indicative budget was less.
The state government had formulated schemes worth '1941.10 crore including free books, uniforms, martial arts education, vocational training and teacher training.
