Telangana: 3 Nigerians nabbed for cheating people
Cyber crime police arrested three Nigerians and a West Bengal native on Monday for cheating people.
Hyderabad: Cyber crime police arrested three Nigerians and a West Bengal native on Monday for cheating people in the name of Samsung lottery. The arrested men are Gauza Artistide, Omeke Eric Tochukwum and Okwereaku Tochukwu from Nigeria and Anand Nagesia from West Bengal. The men were arrested in New Delhi.
“The victim was contacted by a person claiming to be Mr Ashish Patel, accounts officer at the RBI, who notified him that he had won a lottery for Rs 4.5 crore in April 2015. Believing this the victim agreed to transfer the requested amount for payments. He transferred Rs 2.6 lakh and requested Mr Patel to meet him in Delhi in vain,” the police said.
Based on information from call records and emails a team was sent to New Delhi on August 19 and on Wednesday, the cops apprehended the fraudsters. Police officials seized passports, mobile phones, one laptop and other gadgets from them.
