Bengaluru: With more youngsters opting for flexible timings and not seeking permanent employment, more companies are offering work on contract basis. This means that the position one is hired for lasts only a fixed amount of time, say three or six months.

To provide a steady stream of jobs to such employees, a group of youngsters from Bengalure has launched a platform, ‘Workflexi.in’, which exclusively offers contract jobs. When one is between jobs, Workflexi, one of its kind jobs website in the country, also offers a ‘virtual bench’ and pays the job seeker one month’s ‘basic salary’ under its Basic Pay System (BPS) at no cost to the job seeker.

Sandesh Kangod, co-founder, Workflexi, told Deccan Chronicle, “We did a primary research in January 2016 and found that 67 per cent of the people said that they prefer working on contract basis if they have minimum job security which will take care of their monthly EMIs / phone and other bills.”

If someone wants to cover themselves and want a month’s salary in case they lose their jobs, they have to opt for "Opt-in for BPS". BPS is Basic Pay System which enables the job seeker to get one month’s basic pay. But the precondition is that he should have spent at least 6 months with a company to avail of the facility. This option is activated only if the registration comes through the company that they are presently working with.
