Hassan: No trains to connect Mangaluru for 2 weeks

Considering the quantum of restoration work, safe train operations on the route will be possible only after 15 days, if the weather permit.

Hassan: Landslides which have brought train services to a halt via Sakleshpur to Mangaluru will remain suspended for another fortnight as officials of SWR are engaged in restoring the tracks by clearing the rubble. 

“Considering the quantum of restoration work, safe train operations on the route will be possible only after 15 days, if the weather permits,” says a press release from SWR officials on Tuesday. While railways officials were engaged in restoration work, the Sakleshpur route reported yet another landslide which could hamper the work. 

The release stated that train services have been suspended owing to heavy rainfall in the Western Ghats which reported as many as 62 landslides between Sakleshpur-Subramanya railway stations since August 14. 

Some of the trains cancelled are Bengaluru-Kannur/Karwar Express commencing from Bengaluru( August 29 to 31),  Kannur/Karwar-Bengaluru Express journey starting from Kannur/Karwar on August 29, Kannur/Karwar-Bengaluru Express starting from Kannur/Karwar (August 30 to September 1).
