Shravana Masam: Devotees Throng Vemulawada Temple to Worship Shiva
Karimnagar: A large number of devotees flocked to the famous Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada on Monday, which was considered an auspicious day for the devotees to offer prayers to the presiding deity Lord Shiva in the Shravana masam.
With the start of the weekend on Friday evening, a significant number of devotees from all over the state thronged to the temple. The faithful formed lengthy serpentine lines to have the darshan of presiding deities.
Before praying in the temple, the devotees took a holy bath in the Dharmagundem. The temple priests performed several pujas at the temple on Shravana Somavaram (Monday). Later, the devotees performed the one-of-a-kind ceremony of presenting ‘Kode Mokku’. The worshippers had to wait more than three hours to see the presiding deities.
Devotees also performed 'Bonalu' and Navagraha puja rites at Baddi Pochamma and Bheemeshwara Swamy temples in the area of Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada.
Many devotees, particularly newlywed couples and their family members attended the temple and offered special prayers by lighting the lamps on the temple grounds in Vemulawada.
Meanwhile, due to the large number of pilgrims, the temple authorities made ample accommodations for their comfort and only allowed the 'Lagu' darshan of the deities.
