40 more stray dogs killed in Kalady
The group led by Maveli and others started killing stray dogs by 8 am and later buried them.

Kochi: Authorities of Kalady panchayat and Stray Dog Eradication Group killed 40 dogs on Wednesday. The Kalady police registered a case against Stray Dog Eradication Group’s leader Jose Maveli and 17 others for cruelty against animals. “The dogs showing aggressive instincts were killed. The drive will continue to ensuring safety of people,” said advocate K. Tulasi teacher, panchayath president.
The group led by Maveli and others started killing stray dogs by 8 am and later buried them.
“The buried dogs were exhumed and autopsied. The case against the offenders has been registered under sections of IPC, Kerala Police Act and Prevention of Cruelty against Animals Act,” police said.
