Congress flays K Chandrasekhar Rao as IT raids on Revanth continue
She said the TRS was targeting Mr Revanth Reddy as it feared it would lose the elections if he campaigned.
Hyderabad: Even as income-tax department officials continued raids on the houses of Congress leader A. Revanth Reddy for the second day on Friday, party leaders continued to allege that caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was responsible for it. Speaking to mediapersons here, TPCC election campaign committee chairman Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said, “This is nothing but killing democracy by targeting Opposition leaders. Their thinking is that there should be no opposition, which is against the principles of democracy.”
He said the raid against Mr Revanth Reddy was part of political revenge. “Cases against the Congress leaders, activists and those questioning the government show the arrogance of the ruler,” he said. Former minister D.K. Aruna and some Congress leaders went to the house of Mr Revanth Reddy to express support. Ms Aruna said, “Why did the I-T and other departments not touch KCR when he was involved in the Sahara case?”
She said the TRS was targeting Mr Revanth Reddy as it feared it would lose the elections if he campaigned. “The people of Telangana will teach the TRS a lesson. The harassment of leaders was never at such a level as it is now. They have the officers in their control and are doing as they wish,” Ms Aruna said.
