Hyderabad High Court gives relief to job aspirants
The judge noted that merely the petitioners had not filed the petitions before the last date could be held as ground to disentitle them.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Friday directed the commissioner for panchayat raj and rural employment to accept applications for the post of junior panchayat secretary wherever the issue concerned the age of eligibility, if the applicants fulfilled all other criteria, even though the last date was over.
Earlier, when some aspirants approached the court questioning the notification fixing the maximum age limit as 39 years for open category candidates, Justice Naveen Rao had directed the authorities to receive the applications without reference to the age.
The petitioners told the court that fixing the maximum age of 39 years was in contravention to the ad hoc rule GO Ms No 190 issued on August 8, 2017, in which the maximum age was prescribed as 44 years for OC candidates.
After the interim direction, some candidates attempted to submit their applications but the authorities turned them down stating that the interim order was applicable only to the petitioners. Aggrieved by this, the aspirants moved court
Justice Naveen Rao observed, “though the last date for receiving of application is over, the written test is not held and having regard to the fact that prescription of age as 39 years, relaxable by five years to SC, ST and BC category candidates is, prima facie, contrary to the ad hoc rule notified in the GO 190.”
The judge noted that merely that the petitioners had not filed the petitions before the last date could be held as ground to disentitle them.
Contempt case on IAS official
The Hyderabad High Court has admitted a contempt case against former Hyderabad collector Yogitha Rana for continuing for with the name of T.L. Kumar as superintendent of Bal Bhavan despite the suspension of his promotion orders by the High Court.
A division bench comprising Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar and Justice M. Ganga Rao while dealing with the contempt petition by Ms A. Vijaya Lakshmi, an employee of Bal Bhavan, said that Mr Kumar seemed to be very influential and at his behest the order of High Court was not implemented.
Mr P.S.P. Suresh Kumar submitted that the then collector had issued proceedings promoting Mr Kumar as superintendent though he did not have the requisite qualifications and ignored the name of the petitioner, Ms Vijaya Lakshmi.
