Shivpal Yadav turns morcha into party
It will be be known as Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party.
Lucknow: Shivpal ac’s Samajwadi Secular Morcha may now get a new name ‘Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party’ (PSP). An official announcement in this regarded will be made only after the Election Commission gives the clearance. Sources said that Shivpal Yadav had applied for the registration of his new party in 2017 but had kept it under wraps in the hope of a peaceful settlement of the family war.
Now with chances of a rapprochement having completely died down, Mr Yadav is pursuing the matter with the Election Commission. Mr Yadav has reportedly applied for the ‘wheel’ as an election symbol. The ‘wheel’ was originally the election symbol of the Janata Dal and had been frozen by the Election Commission after repeated splits in the Janata Dal.
“If we do not get the wheel, we have given a motorcycle and a car as our second preferences for the election symbol”, said an aide of Mr Yadav. Meanwhile, Shivpal Yadav is apparently unfazed by Mulayam Singh Yadav’s presence at a function organized by his son Akhilesh Yadav in Delhi recently. “Netaji (Mulayam Singh) is facing a dilemma similar to that of Bhishma Pitamah during Mahabharata. He may be with Samajadwai Party but his blessings are with me - just like Bhishma was with Kauravs but his blessings were with Pandavas,” he said.
