A. Purnima, a housewife in Khammam town, had gone to a provision shop in Kaman Bazar asking the shop owner to pack two kg of onions for her. She thought the price of onion would be Rs 40 and gave Rs 100 note and waited for the change. To her shock, the shop-keeper asked her for another Rs 20, for the commodity rate was Rs 60 per kg. She was stunned with the price but unable to return the product. “Onion prices are causing tears even at the time of purchase, and not just at the time of cutting them,” Purnima remarked.
