Telangana HC blow to govt on hiring teachers
Some aspirants challenged GO 25 (05.09.2023) in which Rule 4(ii) (II) prescribes intermediate as the eligibility criteria
HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court issued a notice to the state government and commissioner of school education, directing them to file their contention with regard to eligibility rules for recruitment of secondary grade teachers (SGT) as per a recent notification.
Some aspirants challenged GO 25 (05.09.2023) related to the direct recruitment under Teachers (Scheme of Selection) Rules 2023, in which Rule 4(ii) (II) prescribes intermediate as the eligibility criteria.
The clause considers 45 percentage marks to candidates who passed intermediate before 2007 and 50 percentage marks as eligibility to those who passed intermediate after 2007. Challenging the validity of the variation and excluding the candidates with gradation and diploma in elementary education.
The High Court issued interim orders stating that if secondary grade teachers have been recruited, the validity shall be subject to the outcome of the writ petition.
