Film Nagar Cultural Centre: Buddhist organisations stage stir
Buddhist joint action committee threatens to go on indefinite hunger strike.
Visakhapatnam: Buddhists organisations yet again staged a protest at the district collectorate demanding the government to cancel the land allotment to Film Nagar Cultural Centre (FNCC) on Thotlakonda near the 3rd century BC Buddhist complex.
The 20 Buddhist organisations that have come onto a single platform and formed ‘Buddhist Monument Protection Committee JAC’ had prepared an action plan to bring pressure on the state government to cancel the allotment.
In the first phase they have decided to meet and write to all the authorities concerned about their sentiments attached to the Buddhist complex on Thotlakonda.
Then they will meet all the opposition political parties to seek their support in the fight against the allotment of land to FNCC.
Thereafter they have also planned a round table meeting with all the political parties, NGOs, voluntary organisations on the issue and as a last resort if there was no response from the government, the Buddhist organisations representatives have decided to approach the court and also go on hunger strike.
“We have readied an action plan to bring pressure on the government. We are not going to relent until the land allotment is cancelled. We will not hesitate to go on an indefinite hunger strike. Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu should immediately intervene,” said All India Lay-Buddhist Organisation (AILBO), governing body member Kothapalli Venkata Ramana Rao.
