Edappadi Palaniswami orders opening of dams for irrigation
According to a release here, the Vaigai dam would be opened on November 1 to release 900 cusecs water.

Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Saturday ordered the opening of Vaigai dam and the reservoirs in Tirunelveli district to facilitate the taking up of agricultural activities in Madurai, Tirunelveli, Theni and Cumbum.
According to a release here, the Vaigai dam would be opened on Nov. 1 to release 900 cusecs water for 120 days to help the farmers raise the crops in about 45,041 acres land in Dindigul and Madurai districts. Similarly, water from the Kadana, Adavinainarkoil, Ramnathi and Karuppanadhi will be released from Nov. 1 till March end, 2018, to facilitate paddy cultivation in about 32,025 acres land.
