Hyderabad: For the first time in Hyderabad, excise police found the use of cannabis oil a derivative of ganja  and green ganja. Cannabis oil is said to be thrice as strong as dry ganja. Police arrested two drug peddlers who brought the contraband from Vizag to Hyderabad and were selling it here. Police seized 7 kg of green ganja and 1 kg of cannabis oil.

On Saturday night, after a tip-off, Sai, 23, a junior artiste in Telugu serials, was arrested in Amberpet crossroads. Police arrested Manikanta, 24, a graduate from East Godavari district, and Abhilash, 26, hailing from Kothagudem.

They had brought the contraband from Balu hailing from Vizag. The trio was selling 25 grams of green ganja for Rs 500 and and 10 ml of cannabis oil of Rs 1,000.

Mr Anji Reddy, assistant excise superintendent (enforcement), said, cannabis oil is applied on the ganja joint, and intensifies the kick.

“We are further checking their WhatsApp contacts and will get a clearer idea of their customers,” he said.

The accused will be booked under Section 27 of The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985  Act.

Excise police have formed special teams to deal with such cases. In the last two months alone, they have seized one quintal of ganja and booked six cocaine cases.

Mr Anji Reddy requested parents to examine their children’s activities and inform the excise police if they found any suspicious behaviour or signs of addiction to drugs. He requested college administrations to supervise the youth as it is their moral responsibility.
