Hyderabad: Following Supreme Court orders, which bars High Courts from verifying aspects of legality of arrests while dealing with habeas corpus petitions, the Telangana state High Court dismissed petitions filed by the wives of Nalamasa Krishna, advocate and vice-president of Telangana Praja Front, and Maddileti, a student of Telugu University, challenging the illegal custody of the two and seeking that they be produced before the court.

The division bench, comprising Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice A. Abhishek Reddy, clarified that in case the petitioners are of the opinion that their fundamental rights or civil rights have been violated, they shall be free to challenge the same in a court and seek compensation from the government.
