BENGALURU: The chairperson of Karnataka State Commission for Women (KSCW), Nagalakshmi Bai, wants the police to conduct a thorough probe into cases filed by women, with many victims of image-morphing on social media websites yet to receive justice even after filing formal complaints.

Ms Bai, who called upon DG&IGP Neelmani Raju on Tuesday to discuss women’s issues, reportedly expressed her dissatisfaction over police not taking such complaints seriously. She is said to have asked the state police chief to direct all officers to investigate theses cases on priority.

The issue of women-friendly police stations too was discussed as several alleged cases of harassment of women at police stations were reported recently. The availability of basic amenities for women in police stations was also on the agenda.

The safety of women during the upcoming New Year’s celebrations was also discussed, as there were allegations of a few untoward incidents on MG Road during last year’s celebrations. She suggested that the police should create awareness on the dangers women face during the celebrations and encourage them to take precautions.

Ms Bai requested the DG&IGP to investigate allegations of sexual harassment made by women employees of Vidhana Soudha against a senior officer and ensure justice.
