Vijayawada getting Capital elevation

Greenery, wall paintings have increased in the city.

Vijayawada: With Vijayawada being part of the Capital region, officials have been putting in all their efforts to make the city appealing to the senses. Greenery has been developed in a major part of the city and steps are being taken to maintain it. The plants are being watered through drip irrigation system. Walls in public places and at thoroughfares are being painted with beautiful patterns or flowers, giving a new look to the roads.

Collector B. Lakshmikantham has been touring all the areas in and nearby the city for the last two months and following up the works on a daily basis. On October 14, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu toured in the city and asked the officials to beautify the city, owing to its proximity to the Capital city, Amaravati. Since then, he has been regularly reviewing the progress of works by speaking to the collector and the VMC commissioner.

Beautification works were taken up following sanction of budget under different segments. Canal bunds have been beautified by planting saplings which are being watered through drip irrigation. The dividers on the highways have been beautified with colourful flowers and greenery. The Eluru Road, Bandar Road, bus station, railway station, Rajivgandhi Park have walls painted with impressive designs.

A beautiful water fountain has been arranaged  at Ramavarappadu Junction. The roads between Ramavarappadu Junction and  Prasadampadu, Nida-manuru and Gannavaram are being expanded to avoid traffic congestion.
