Bengaluru: An outing with cousins and family turned bitter for Sanjana Madappa, a member of the Karnataka Golf Association, on Wednesday afternoon when one of the members of the KGA committee allegedly misbehaved with the family and pointed fingers at their 56-year-old nanny, saying, “Such people are not allowed here.” He also allegedly stopped their lunch order.

The incident occurred around 2.30 pm on KGA premises at Ejipura where Ms Sanjana Madappa had gone with six members of her family and their nanny Rosy for lunch. She told Deccan Chronicle that she has been associated with KGA for years. “First through my father and then after I became a member myself. I never faced such humiliation.”

She said, “Rosy was adhering to the dress code and other rules of the club. As I was explaining to the receptionist that Rosy was my guest and I was signing her in, a man at the front desk me started arguing with me. He told me I could either follow the rules or leave. When I asked him why he was interfering in a conversation that had nothing to do with him, he told me that he held the Captain’s office at KGA,” she said.

Sanjana said that though no verbal altercation took place, he directed the staff at the reception to ignore her and get back to work. “He waved me away like he was swatting a fly. When my mother went and explained to him that Rosy was like our family and we would be signing her in as a guest, he agreed.”

As the family was in the middle of lunch, the head waiter came up and allegedly said the family cannot be served further because of Rosy.

She said, “I reported it to the authorities and the association members. They asked me to send them a mail and that they will look into it. I will also file a police complaint against him on Thursday,” she said.

When Deccan Chronicle tried getting in touch with KGA, there was no response.
