Kozhikode: Over 130 H1N1 cases this year

Kozhikode: The health department has revealed that over 130 cases of H1N1 had been reported in the district this year. Among the 130 cases reported, 35 of them were reported in the month of November alone, said the officials.

In all four people lost their lives of which one death was reported in the month of November. “In a scenario where cases are reporting from all parts of the district, precautions should be taken,” said District Medical Officer, Dr. V Jayashree.

The virus is likely affecting those with low immunity level and the contagious disease will spread through a cough and sneeze and through direct contact with the patient. The virus cannot survive long at normal temperature but will exist long in air-conditioned rooms.
