Rs 50 Lakh seized from TRS candidate
Tax officials also confiscated expenditure documents
Hyderabad: Income-tax department officials recovered Rs 50 lakh unaccounted cash during a raid on the farmhouse of TRS candidate P. Narendra Reddy, the brother of caretaker minister P. Mahender Reddy in Mirzapur of Kosgi Mandal. He is a candidate from Kodangal.
Tax officials also confiscated expenditure documents. The office of the Chief Election Officer confirmed of the seizure.
The raid came a few hours before the public meeting by Congress president Rahul Gandhi at Kosgi. Mr Narendra is fighting elections against TS Congress working president A. Revanth Reddy from Kodangal. Sources revealed that I-T raids were also carried out against TRS candidate C. Dharma Reddy. However no cash was seized. He is a TRS candidate from Parakal.
He is the third TRS leader against whom I-T raids were conducted. Earlier, I-T officials had raided the residence and offices of TRS MP P. Srinivas Reddy. suspecting largescale tax evasion, especially in the Kaleshwaram project bagged by an infrastructure company owned by the TRS MP.
