Bengaluru schoolowner held for abusing children

The police said that according to the complaint, the girls were being harassed for the last three month.

Bengaluru: The owner of a private school located in Anjanadri Layout, Thanisandra, has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing seven minor girl students.

The alleged crime came to light after one of the girls informed her parents, following which a complaint was registered with Sampigehalli Police. The accused school owner was booked under IPC 354 and various other sections under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).
The arrested person has been identified as Hussain, the owner of Reliance Public School.

It is learnt that Hussain was harassing the girls for the past few months. The victims are from the fifth standard (one girl), sixth (two girls), seventh (three girls) and eighth (one girl).

According to social activist Shakila Basha, “The students were  facing sexual harassment since August 15 and they have revealed it now. On the eve of Reliance public School day, the accused used to take the girls to his house under the pretext of rehearsal for cultural activities. However, he used to misbehave with the girls and sexually harass them. The girls were frightened to silence.”
On Wednesday, the parents and others staged a protest in front of the school after a police complaint was filed on behalf of all the minor girls.

The police said that according to the complaint, the girls were being harassed for the last three months, but the complaint was filed on Sunday, by the parents of one of the girls.

Sampigehalli police are investigating the case.
