Vijayawada: Ambedkar varsity to start diploma in astrology

Vijayawada: Dr BR Ambedkar University in Srikakulam will introduce Diplomo course in Astrology. Astrology Knowledge Centre, formed by local astrologers is to submit its project report stating its curriculam, subjects and about the faculty to the university. It will start the course from the coming academic year 2017-1. It is the first time the university is introducing the course.

Since long, the Astrology Knowledge Centre is demanding to start the diploma course for which they have been organising many discussions. As a part of it, they requested the Ambedkar University authorities to look into the issue inviting their executive committee members.

Ambedkar University Executive Committee member Prof. B. Laxman Rao said Astrology Knowledge Centre has requested to start a diplomo course in Astrology in order to save the interests and prominence of Astrology. “As we already introduced certificate courses in Yoga and Meditation, we are now perusing the proposal on introducing Astrology diplomo course,” Prof. Laxman Rao said. He also mentioned that initially it might not have funding from the government but will be a self-finance course.

The main aim of the course is to support astrologers in attaining government jobs in temples and as teachers in Vedic schools and colleges. Astrology Knowledge Centre representative Dharmapuri Gowri Sankara Sastry said that because of the fake astrologers the public had lost trust in astrology as the fake babas are troubling the public by making them spend lots of money.

“To avoid this situation and safeguard the prominence and existence of Astrology, we are requesting to introduce the diplomo course. This is for the first time in our state that we are introducing the course, but it is already available in other states. This will also increase our opportunities of livelihood,” Prof. Laxman Rao said.
