20 stations of Vijayawada railway division get ISO certificate
Vijayawada: Twenty stations of Vijayawada railway division received ISO 14001:2015 certificates. During a programme in Vijayawada on Friday, Narendra A Patil, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, handed over the ISO 14001:2015 Certificates to the station in-charges and health inspectors of 20 railway stations. Gudur, Nellore, Ongole, Chirala, Tenali, Vijayawada, Eluru, Tadepalligudem, Nidadavolu, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Annavaram, Tuni, Anakapalli, Gudivada, Bhimavaram Town, Bhimavaram Junction, Narasapur, Kakinada Town, and Kakinada Port are among the stations.
Narendra Patil said that it is a moment of pride for the Vijayawada division as 20 railway stations have received re-certification for ISO 14001:2015 for another three years up to 2026. All the parameters are to be maintained well within the prescribed standards of the Central Pollution Control Board. The environment and housekeeping management department has taken the initiative for effective planning. Successful internal audits have been conducted to ensure compliance. He explained that ISO is an organisation that verifies standards against the norms of production, environmental management, etc., and ISO 14001:2015 certification sets the standards for environmental management at each station.
Patil congratulated M. Kishore, Sr. divisional environment and housekeeping manager, and the staff of all 20 stations and asked them to continue the good work. He also encouraged them to come up with systems to ensure that garbage disposal, even at the smallest level, is taken care of with the utmost care.
