Bengaluru: Hearing a PIL seeking to declare strike/bandhs as unconstitutional, the Karnataka High Court on Monday ordered notices to the state government and Karnataka Chaluvali Vatal Paksha, which enforced a statewide bandh on January 25.

The petitioner, Shraddha Parents’ Association, sought directions to stop the bandh that has been called on February 4 on the Mahadayi issue and to take preventive measures.

The association stressed on the hardships caused to the public during such bandhs and strikes. They even sought a compensation for the losses caused to the state exchequer because of such bandhs.
