Student jumps to death from college building in Thoraipakkam
Police are inquiring into the reason of the suicide.
Chennai: A 20-year-old third year engineering student of a private college in Thoraipakkam committed suicide by jumping off the third floor of his college building in the wee hours of Monday.
The deceased, Sabarinath, native of Neetamangalam in Thiruvarur district was last seen on Sunday night when he stepped out to have dinner. The guards had raised an alarm in the night after seeing the blood-soaked body of the boy.
According to police, the guards heard screams of a man and a loud “thud” sound. The guards who rushed to the spot took him to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead. Later, his body was sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital (GRH) for autopsy.
Police are inquiring into the reason of the suicide. Preliminary investigations suggest that Sabarinath was heartbroken after his parents started living separately.
