T-hub, Rural Electrification Corporation join hands for ideas
Finally, top 3 projects will be selected for further mentoring at T-Hub.
HYDERABAD: T-Hub and Rural Electrification Corporation have announced the launch of ‘REC Innovation Platform’. The platform will help 1,800 young college innovators to work on 600 projects focused on renewable energy.
Out of these, 30 projects will be selected for advanced mentoring. Finally, top 3 projects will be selected for further mentoring at T-Hub.
The college students will be mentored on the finer points of research and innovation in the field of renewable energy.
Researchers will be assigned to mentor teams towards building innovations in renewable energy ranging from solar energy and wind energy to geothermal energy and alternative bio fuels, and more.
An MoU was signed by T-Hub and REC at a programme held in T-Hub premises on Monday. IT Minister K.T.Rama Rao and REC chairman and MD P.V. Ramesh attended the event.
The REC Innovation Plat-form will also extend support and mentoring to 30 government institutions across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Speaking on the occasion, the minister called upon universities to focus on rese-arch studies that impact people's lives. He said that they would focus on giving thrust to innovation in universities
Dr Ramesh said, “One of today’s challenges is how to ensure a constant supply without impacting the environment. The answer lies in renewable energy; it is cleaner, available in abundance and has much lower impact on the environment. However, innovation is needed to ensure that it becomes the largest contributor to the energy needs.”
