Telangana police put on alert for Hanuman Jayanti

SPs of sensitive districts have been asked to make adequate security arrangements.

Nellore District Superintendent of Police PHD Ramakrishna has directed all the police machinery in the district to keep a close watch on festivals organised in different parts of the district in view of Srirama Navami to ensure that obscene dances under the guise of cultural programmes are not staged.

HYDERABAD: Following minor skirmish in Nirmal district during Sri Ramnavami procession early this week resulting in widespread tension in the state, the Telangana police are on high alert for the Hanuman Jayanthi festival that will be celebrated on Saturday. Big processions are expected to be taken out in almost all the districts of the state on the occasion. 

In the incident some days aaog, two groups belonging to different communities had pelted stones at each other after a few persons allegedly pelted stones at a place of worship, resulting in tension in the town for a couple of days. 

The top brass of the state police asked now all district SPs to be on high alert. The SPs of the sensitive districts, including Adilabad, Mahbubnagar, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Medak, Nizamaba, Karimnagar and some others were asked to make adequate security arrangements. 

Teams of Rapid Action Force and District Quick Response Teams are being deployed in sensitive places in the communally sensitive areas of districts. The police are also keeping an eye of the social media after a first-hand experience of the fake picture of a poster on a shrine in the city.

In Hyderabad, the police will be deploying about 10,000 personnel to oversee the security arrangements for the Hanuman Jayanthi rally to be taken out on Saturday. About 50,000 persons are expected at the rally which will begin from Ram Mandir Gowliguda and culminate at Bowenpally.
