Hyderabad: A massive 42 lakh errors have been detected in the state’s land records. These errors were identified through verification of computerised records  with manual records.

The errors were detected in five categories such as typographical, survey numbers, extent of land, registered in great grand parents’ name and wrong land mutations. Revenue department urges property owners to check updated list in June and lodge objections if any.

People can check their land records online by logging on to the government website: www.mabhoomi. telangana.gov.in.

These records pertain to land holdings; flats, buildings would be taken up in the second phase.

“Barring Hyderabad and some parts of Ranga Reddy districts, the verification was done in the remaining districts over two months. We  have detected 42 lakh errors. We will give both online and offline facility for property owners to apply for corrections,” said Mr Raymond Peter, the chief commissioner of land adminstration.

Only tahsildars (MROs) can correct the records. “First we will post the land records on the portal online by May-end.  This will enable owners to verify whether the data is correct or not. In case of any discrepancies, they can directly approach MROs with required documentary proofs in support of their claim. The MROs will correct the records on the spot,” he said.

The department will post the updated records online and give another chance for owners to lodge objections.
