Ola cab driver allegedly thrashed by African nationals in Delhi
The 51-year-old claims he was beaten up by six African nationals for refusing to let all of them board his car.
New Delhi: A cab driver was allegedly thrashed by African nationals in Delhi on Monday after he refused to ferry more than four passengers in his vehicle. This incident comes amid the raging row in the national capital over racist attacks on African nationals.
51-year-old Nuruddin, an Ola cab driver, was assaulted by six people, including two women at around 4 am on Monday. According to him, all six African nationals wanted to board the car but were infuriated when Nurudin cited traffic rules and told them he would only carry four of them. The argument soon escalated out of control and the African nationals began to beat him up.
According to the Nuruddin, the taxi No DL1YE5087 was booked through Ola to go from Rajpur to Dwarka. The driver sustained injuries on his face in the altercation, is presently being treated at the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
The Delhi Police filed a complaint against the African nationals for assaulting a Taxi driver early Monday morning.

The incident comes after six African nationals were attacked in Mehrauli area last week allegedly with cricket bats and sticks. Earlier, a Nigerian student in Hyderabad was beaten up by the local residents during a spat over parking space.
Earlier this month, 23-year-old Congolese national Masonda Ketada Olivier was beaten to death after a verbal altercation over the hiring of an auto-rickshaw in Vasant Kunj area of south Delhi.
