Temporary Secretariat complex work at quick pace in Amaravati
Contractors hopeful of completing work as per deadline set by government.
Amaravati: The construction works of temporary Secretariat complex gained momentum in the past 100 days at Velagapudi.
The construction works were started on February 17 and after completion of 100 days, the contractors L & T Constructions and Shapoorji and Pallonji started construction of rooms in five blocks of the temporary Secretariat complex.
The contractors bagged the temporary Secretariat complex construction contract for Rs 201 crore against a deadline of June 15 set by the state government. However, the death of two workers in two separate incidents during construction works at the temporary Secretariat complex led to the stopping of the works for two days and also drew criticism.
The engineers of the two contract companies are hopeful of completing the temporary Secretariat complex by June 15 by finishing all the works. They mentioned that the construction of walls of the rooms and halls is under progress.
Next the flooring works would be started and then carpenter works including electric and plumbing works would be started in the next week. They said that the electrical wiring works and interior decorations would be completed in the next 10 days.
The slabs of two floors of the second block were completed and construction of walls was started. The slab of the first block would be constructed in two or three days and construction of walls will be completed in 10 days.
The slab works of the third and fourth blocks would be completed by June 5. The slab of the fifth block was already completed and wall construction was started for rooms and halls.
Further, the sixth block of the Assembly building works were recently started and the contractors are hopeful of completion of slab works by the end of June. They said that they would be able to meet he deadline.
