Hyderabad: Mercury dips to 41 degrees Celsius

Hyderabad: The heat wave conditions will persist till June 1. Many districts in the state touched 46°C on Tuesday. Adilabad was at a scorching 46.3°C, followed by Nizamabad at 46°C. Khammam, Ramagundam, Nalgonda, Medak, and Hanmakonda registered 45°C. Hyderabad was at 41.8°C, a two-degree drop.
In a high level meeting with senior officers of concerned departments with regard to seasonal conditions, chief secretary S.K. Joshi on Wednesday directed the officials to be prepared to tackle any eventuality arising out of the heat wave and the arrival of the monsoon any time after June 10. He instructed the GHMC Commissioner to take steps to identify the dilapidated structures before the rains start and take appropriate measures.
Rajeshwar Tiwari, special chief secretary of revenue, said that they are coordinating with the Railways, Indian Army, Air Force, police, municipal and panchayat raj departments to meet any kind of situation during the monsoon season.
