Hyderabad: Protection sought for third gender
Transgender activists also want the community to be under the State Women’s Commission whenever it is formed.
Hyderabad: Telangana’s transgender communities are victims of gender-based violence by both the state and society. They want an assurance from the state that it will take a zero-tolerance stand against the human rights violations on transgender people. Transgender activists also want the community to be under the State Women’s Commission whenever it is formed.
Transgender activist Chandramukhi Muvvala said “Transgenders don’t have the knowledge to approach the National Women’s Commission against the atrocities committed on us. To my knowledge the state hasn’t done any survey or mapping of the population of transgenders. If a state women’s commission is formed and transgenders are included in it, it would be of great help.”
