BSY: If Cong, JD(S) can’t run the show, they should leave it to BJP

Bengaluru: Strongly opposing mid- term polls in the state, state BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa said here on Saturday that the people were not ready for it. But if the Congress party and Janata Dal (Secular) were “incapable of running the government” he advised them to “get lost” and leave governing to the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Participating in a programme to felicitate the newly elected MPs of Bengaluru South, Central and North organised by the Bengaluru city unit of the BJP, he said, “The coalition partners are talking about mid- term polls. But who wants them? The people of the state are not ready for them. If you are incapable of running the government, you should get lost. We know how to govern the state.”

While predicting that the coalition government could collapse any time in the state under the weight of its own internal problems, he claimed his party had no intention of destabilising it  by inviting any of the MLAs of the coalition partners to join it. “But if  they come forward of their own accord to  join us, we will welcome them,” he added.

Accusing the government of being insensitive to the problems of the people, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader claimed ministers were not available in Vidhana Soudha and regretted that instead of touring the state to address the issues concerning it, the Chief Minister was more interested  in holding his village stays.

Turning to the Lok Sabha polls, Mr Yeddyurappa said while winning 26 parliamentary seats from the state was a great achievement for the party, its next aim should be to win 25 Assembly seats from Bengaluru city.
