Students losing out on PG admission opportunities.
Hyderabad: Degree college exams of colleges affiliated to Osmania University (OU), Shatavahana University and Mahatma Gandhi University, which were supposed to end by the first week of June, are still underway. As for OU, its exams are scheduled to conclude on July 7. Meanwhile, entrance examinations to and counselling for various PG courses in central universities have already begun.
Osmania University student P. Srihari said, “We are afraid that students who want to apply to Central universities are losing their opportunities as the students here in OU are still appearing for their examinations. Many Central universities have even wrapped up their entrance examinations and are likely to call students in for counselling and certificate verification rather soon.”
While Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda concluded its degree exams on June 26, its students have had to suffer over a month’s delay, said Mahatma Gandhi University student Parlu Balu.
In response, university officials said, “We have been behind schedule by a month-and-a-half from the very beginning of the academic year owing to the delay in admissions through the Degree Online Services of Telangana (DOST). However, because this time the evaluation will be conducted online
and because we are equipped with enough lecturers qualified to evaluate degree scripts, we will declare results within a week or 10 days after the conclusion of examinations so students don't miss out on any of the important segments of their PG admissions.”
Under this scenario, degree examination results will most likely be released only by the third week of July. However, the results of the entrance examinations for some of the PG courses in the University of Hyderabad have already been declared, and students are expected be called for certificate verification in the second or third week of July.
