Land rate revision put off again by Telangana government
The stamps and registration department approached for hike this month but was put on hold again.
Hyderabad: The state government has put revision of market value of lands on hold again. Market rates of land are yet to be revised after the formation of the state; The last revision was made in August 2013.
With no revision of market rates for the past four years, the government is coming under fire from Opposition parties and farmers' organisations, who are alleging that the government was not revising market rates to reduce its financial burden on land acquisition.
Earlier, the stamps and registration department had the power to revise the market rates in August every year and seek government's approval.
The department approached for hike this month but was put on hold again. The government directed the department not to take up any revision without prior approval.
