Telangana and Andhra Pradesh fight it out over projects
It said this was in response to a complaint lodged by AP against TS projects on July 1.
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government on Saturday complained to the Centre regarding several river projects being taken up by its Andhra Pradesh counterpart, alleging that they did not have any approval. It said this was in response to a complaint lodged by AP against TS projects on July 1.
Ending a year-long lull, the states are accusing each other of embarking on irrigation projects and schemes without the knowledge and approval of the authorities concerned, thereby violating the procedures laid down in the AP Reorganisation Act.
TS irrigation special chief secretary S.K. Joshi wrote to the Union water resources ministry secretary denying the AP allegation that TS had taken up new projects. He complained that the AP government was taking up projects in the Godavari and Krishna basins without formal approval.
