Hyderabad: Airport bags can fall prey to smugglers
Do not write your address on luggage tags as other criminals may secretly stash their goods and loot in your luggage.
Hyderabad: With the increase in drugs and contraband entering Indian cities, the British Airways has advised its passengers not to write their addresses on their luggage tags since drug peddlers may secretly stash their goods in the luggage.
This step will help the passengers not fall into the trap unwittingly.
An official precautionary note released for travellers by the British Airways stated, “Do not write your address on luggage tags as other criminals may secretly stash their goods and loot in your luggage. If you clear immigration, they will go to your address to get it from you. If you fail the immigration check, say goodbye to freedom as you sit behind bars. So just indicate a contact number and an email id. If the luggage goes missing, the airline will call or email you when it is found.” The precautionary note said, “Do not leave the boarding pass as rubbish in the passenger seat pockets. Criminals can scan the QR code to get your full name and other details and can even steal your mileage points. So please be forewarned and keep this in mind while checking in.”
