Last rites with official honours

Hyderabad: Telangana state Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed officials to conduct the last rites of former MP and Minister late Nandamuri Harikrishna with official honours. The CM told Chief Secretary SK Joshi to discuss with the family members of late Harikrishna and make necessary arrangements.

Harikrishna’s last rites will be conducted at Mahaprasthanam in Jubilee Hills on Thursday.

Great lover of Telugu language

A great lover of Telugu language Harikrishna who fought with Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman to speak in Telugu in the Rajya Sabha, died on August 29, which happens to be Telugu language day. During the UPA regime, Harikrishna, began his speech in Telugu on state bifurcation. The then Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha P.J. Kurien objected saying since Harikrishna had not taken permission before to speak in Telugu he would not allow. Harikrishna responded angrily, “Not translation, expression is important, being a Telugu man I will speak in Telugu only, it is not wrong to speak in Telugu in the house. BJP MP M. Venkaiah Naidu also supported Harikrishna and he spoke in Telugu even after objections were raised by the Deputy Chairman.  Harikrishna resigned his Rajya Sabha membership in protest against state bifurcation.
 
Chaitanya Ratham for procession

Keeping in view the relationship of Harikrishna with the Chaitanya Ratham, the family members have decided to use this vehicle for his funeral procession. At present the vehicle is at Nacharam Ramakrishna studios. The family members are readying the vehicle for the procession.

Last letter to fans and followers

Harikrishna in his last letter to his followers and fans asked them not to celebrate his birthday on September 2 in the wake of the floods in Kerala and some parts of Telugu states. He told them not to put up flex boards wishing him but instead directed them to donate that amount for relief works. Harikrishna wrote the letter himself, but died before releasing it.

KCR with Naidu

‘Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao went to Harikrishna residence at Mehdipatnam to pay tributes to him. At that time AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu who is the brother-in-law of Harikrishna, was also present. CM Chandrasekhar Rao offered condolences to the family members of  Harikrishna.

When he left, CM Naidu was seen accompanying him to the door. During the walk, CM Chandrasekhar Rao briefed  CM Naidu about state government
arrangements to conduct the last rites of Harikrishna with official honours.
