Nizam VI’s great work recalled
Ms P. Anuradha Reddy of Intach said the development works carried out by Mir Mahbub Ali Khan were tremendous.
Hyderabad: The Deccan Heritage Trust, Mehr organisation and Nizam VI Nawab Mir Mahbub Ali Khan Bahadur Foundation, Mahbubnagar, paid floral tributes to the sixth Asaf Jahi ruler of Hyderabad on his 109th death anniversary at the royal necropolis on the premises of Macca Masjid.
Ms P. Anuradha Reddy of Intach, said the development works carried out by Mir Mahbub Ali Khan were tremendous. “We recall the modern development works started in his regime. In his period, the railways was a modern development work. Though a British company had launched the railways, the Nizam government not only provided the infrastructure, but provided a guarantee of 5 per cent of expenses,” Ms Reddy said.
Later, Mir Osman Ali Khan acquired all shares of the British company and dedicated it to the public.
She said that in Hyderabad state, relations between Hindus and Muslims were warm and cordial in his regime. The Nizams never discriminate people on the basis of religion. “We have to realize that the Qutub Shahi and Nizam rulers were not looters, but stayed here,” she said.
Dr Chiranjivi Kolluri, president, Hyderabad Deccan Democratic Alliance, said the government should observe such events officially as the Nizams not only the ruled Hyderabad, but also developed it. They developed infrastructure and reformed the administration for the benefit of people.
He advocated introduction of Article 371 in Jammu and Kashmir to keep away non-locals from purchasing land there. Dr Chiranjivi said he and Dr Panduranga Reddy also opposed the celebration of Liberation Day of erstwhile Hyderabad.
