Hyderabad: Dismissing doubts raised by the BRS over the implementation of promises made by the Congress in Karnataka, TPCC leaders on Wednesday hailed the launch of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme in Karnataka and reiterated that the party would keep its promises.

CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka said, “The promises made by us in the presence of AICC leaders recently, as part of various declarations, will be implemented. KCR never stands by his words or promises. He thinks the Congress is like him. His promises to make a Dalit CM, double-bedrooms, implementing KG to PG, etc, were not implemented.”

Senior Congress leader and Manthani MLA D. Sridhar Babu, who was AICC secretary incharge of Karnataka, said, “We have been scheduling our promises and are delivering them to the people. The BRS is panicking and wants to just divert the people of Telangana. We will stick to promises made in the state and have enough resources to implement them. Unlike under the BRS, the fruits of development will be shared with all and not only the rich.”

TPCC working president Mahesh Kumar Goud, said, “We have implemented our promises of 200 units of power to poor households, free buses, giving rice to the poor etc. We are not making false promises which we didn’t keep like BRS. The Dalit Bandhu and BC Bandhu were implemented in a piecemeal manner for a few. Our Farmers Declaration, Youth Declaration and SC/ST Declaration were all made after thorough study.”

Addressing the press in Hyderabad, Nalgonda MP and former TPCC President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the women of Karnataka will get Rs 24,000 per annum. “The Karnataka government is spending Rs 22,000 crores on the scheme. This is the third promise made during polls that is being implemented from this month,” he said.

Listing out failed promises of BRS, the Congress MP said: “CM KCR cheated the people on the promise of making a Dalit CM, 2 BHK houses for poor, KG to PG free education, 12 per cent quota for Muslims and STs, 3 acres of land for poor Dalit and ST families, unemployment allowance of Rs 3,016, etc.”

“Overall, KCR government made 99 major promises in 2014 and 2018 elections. However, it did not fulfil even nine major promises. While in Karnataka and other Congress-ruled states, every promise made with the people has been fulfilled,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy accused the BRS leaders of spreading falsehood regarding the Congress government in Karnataka and other states, saying the party also implemented the old pension scheme in Himachal Pradesh, as promised.

On the hype around the distribution of rice for the poor by the BRS government, he said, “The state government was giving only 1 kg of rice per person; the remaining 5 kg was being adjusted from a Central scheme launched during the Covid pandemic.”

Uttam Kumar Reddy said BRS MLAs have harassed people and looted public wealth through sand, land, wine and mining mafias. “They are still living in a world of arrogance with no service motto,” he said.
