Bhopal: The anti-terrorist squad (ATS) of Madhya Pradesh police busted a Maoist supply chain by arresting a suspected aide of Naxals near Jabalpur in the state late on Monday night.

Dhan Singh, a suspected Maoist aide, was arrested at Kalapi while he was travelling to Mandla from Jabalpur by train, ATS sources said on Tuesday.

The arrest came following interrogation of Maoist couple, Ashok Reddy and Kumari Potai, arrested from a private hospital in Jabalpur on August 25 by ATS, sources said.

Singh, a resident of Pungati village under Kanker district in Bastar in Chhattisgarh, had allegedly been working as a courier for the Maoists in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh for the past two and half decades, sources said.

A Naxal leader, Vijay, had introduced Singh to Reddy for deploying him as a Maoist courier, sources said.

“The interrogation of Maoist couple has led to revelation of the plans by Naxals to spread their base in Madhya Pradesh. They have also named some Maoist leaders working in Madhya Pradesh. They will be arrested soon”, the ATS sources said.

The Maoist couple were arrested when they visited the private hospital for treatment on August 25.

MP ATS had received intelligence inputs on their arrival in the hospital a day before the Naxal couple got them admitted in the medical facility, sources said.

Reddy had carried bounties amounting to Rs 82 lakh on his head in the states of Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, ATS sources said.
